The City of Caldwell has opening for a Stormwater Superintendent. The Stormwater Superintendent leads and implements the City's stormwater management program, as well as other environmental programs including development and administration of related policies, ordinances and regulations; performs related work as required.

The principal function of an employee in this class is to implement the City's stormwater management program and other environmental programs including administration of related polices, ordinances and regulations. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director or Deputy Public Works Director. This person shall supervise the activities of other Stormwater Division staff. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with all City employees, business owners, government agencies, contractors, engineers, and the public. The principal duties of this class are performed in both an office environment as well as in the field, with an emphasis on teamwork. Work responsibilities including both indoor and outdoor tasks onsite, within the City of Caldwell.

Education, qualifications and training:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in environmental science, water quality, natural resources or other technical field acceptable for the state certified engineer-in-training program; and

  • Some experience in public works project engineering design and construction.

  • Some experience in the environmental or water quality industry.

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Required Special Qualifications:

  • Possession of a driver's license issued by the State of Idaho.

  • Five (5) years relevant experience in water resources.

  • Subject to a background check and drug testing.

  • Ability to obtain Certified Floodplain Manager certification within 1 year of hire.
