Performs technical work involving inventory and assessment of stormwater management systems for compliance with Beaufort County Stormwater Management Regulations and MS4 permitting requirements. Conducts field data collection of Municipal Separate Stormsewer System (MS4) Infrastructure. Utilizes GIS based mapping and MS4 Data Management software(s) served on mobile computing devices to map stormsewer infrastructure and assess the need for repairs and maintenance. Conducts inspections of Stormwater Best Management Practices for maintenance needs, utilizes CCTV equipment to inspect pipes and closed stormsewer systems, and assists with the implementation of the County's Post-construction Stormwater Management program including scheduling, performing and following up on inspections of private and public storm drainage systems.
High School Diploma
Associate degree (preferred)
2 years of experience in Public Works operations, stormsewer construction, or civil engineering related projects.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Basic knowledge of drainage principals and concepts, GPS and GIS.
Ability to read and comprehend site plans, construction plans and as-built drawings.
Computer literacy, with experience using tablets such as an Apple iPad.
Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills, with the ability to present facts clearly and concisely.
Must obtain CEPSCI (Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector) certification within one year of employment.
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
