About the Indiana Women's Prison:

As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Indiana Women's Prison promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Indiana Women's Prison is maximum security Correctional facility for adult females. The Indiana Women's Prison is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Indiana Women's Prison houses special populations of female incarcerated individuals in the state, including pregnant, sick, mentally ill, youthful, elderly, and high-profile incarcerated individuals. The facility includes the Officer Breann Leath Memorial Maternal-Child Health Unit, which encourages the preservation of family by allowing incarcerated mothers to stay with their children and offering education and resources to support successful re-entry. The facility also offers resources and treatment geared toward mental health, substance use and domestic abuse, along with multiple educational opportunities. The goal is that through treatment and rehabilitation geared toward everyone, the facility will help prepare incarcerated women to re-enter their community with more skills and confidence than when they arrived.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $31,688.00but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

  • Maintains detailed inventory records and records of items ordered

  • Exercises inventory control.

  • Calculates, monthly, quarterly, and yearly inventory reports and ensures accuracy.

  • Maintains Tool Control for commissary and warehouse, complete ACA tool log when required.

  • Distribution of issuance of chemicals used in compliance with ACA and OSHA guidelines.

  • Receive general deliveries from common carriers, ensure purchase order and packing slips are accurate.

  • Receive and distribute commissary on the days assigned.

  • Tag fixed assets and receive in PeopleSoft.

  • Prepare purchase orders of facility supplies and maintain supply inventory

  • Maintains key control for keys utilized by warehouse staff or offender workers, complete ACA documentation.

  • Maintain officer clothing inventory.

  • Assign offender jobs daily as needed based on current/daily priority.

  • Duties include commissary functions.

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Thorough knowledge of requisitioning and disbursing procedures and inventory control procedures.

  • Thorough knowledge of stock items, their locations, and the proper methods of storing a variety of goods and supplies based upon efficient space utilization and a variety of state and federal regulations.

  • Ability to train and direct the work of offenders assigned to warehouse and provide appropriate security measures.

  • Ability to maintain detailed, accurate inventory records and purchasing records

  • Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack, refrigeration truck, box truck, golf cart and other mechanical equipment in the warehouse.

  • Capable of traveling to various vendor locations and businesses, Central office and other state agencies.

  • Working knowledge of and ability to perform approved self-defense techniques.
