About Our Opportunity
The Storekeeper will order, receive and store food items, office, custodial and maintenance supplies. Initiate orders, receive inventory and check accuracy of orders. Maintain stock levels. Distribute items to various locations. Process invoices in a timely manner. Maintain accurate inventory and necessary records. Keep dock and storage areas in clean and safe condition.
Responsibilities:
Order, receive, and store food items, office and cleaning products, and supplies for the food production operation in large collegiate dining court
Monitor food expiration dates, ensure, and maintain safe storage practices according to ServSafe and ISDH regulation food code
Continuously orient, train, and mentor all staff members in safety, storage, rotation, labeling, stock movement, and stock handling equipment operation
Maintain various records pertaining to items ordered, received, stored and issued. Conduct physical inventory on a monthly basis
Teach and mentor new employees in processes to receive items, control waste, rotate products, monitor expiration dates and items delivered as orders
Work independently using expert organization, knowledge of quantity food handling, and warehouse management skills
Demonstrate effective communication in daily interactions with guests, employees, and supervisors
Assist in the setup, organization, and effectiveness of food storage and equipment areas (coolers, freezers, food storage rooms)
Organize, motivate, support, and lead all employees to ensure the proper handling of food items for a high-volume food service operation
Operate a computer for the purpose of email, accessing payroll/timekeeping information, food production materials, processing invoices (receiving and issuing), and trainings
Operate hand truck, dollies, and electric pallet jacks according to safety policies
Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
Operate university vehicles responsibly and safely according to university policies and for their purposes
What We Are Looking For
Education and Experience:
Required:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent
Valid Driver's license and Clean Motor Vehicle Record
A minimum of two (2) years of residence hall food service experience OR two (2) years of experience in storekeeping, inventory control, warehousing or related experience
Skills:
Required:
Stable work history and good attendance record
Ability to plan and meet both short term and long-term goals
Ability to attain Serve Safe Certification within three (3) months
Ability to attain AllerTrain U Certification within three (3) months
Ability to perform basic math functions, lift and move up to sixty (60) pounds routinely, climb ladders, and stand, walk, reach and stoop extensively
Ability to accurately read, write, weigh, and measure
Ability to meet daily deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work with others, particularly individuals from differing backgrounds and views
