Description
Under direct supervision of the Utilities Warehouse Manager and in compliance with established warehouse policiees and procedures, the Storekeeper shall perform a variety of duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the City's Utilities Warehouse.
The Storekeeper may receive general direction from the Senior Storekeeper and shall ensure that all processes related to the issuance, return, and acceptance of all inventory, non-stock items, tools and supplies maintained at the Utilities Warehouse are handled efficiently and in accordance with policy and best practices.
Examples of Duties
Inventory Control:
1.Processes incoming inventory and non-stock items by inspecting the quality/condition of items, comparing count/measure of items to purchase order, packing listings, and specifications, and noting and reporting any discrepancies to supervisor.
2.Issues materials to various City departments and work crews, and outside contractors and businesses.
3.Prepares proper documentation to assure accountability for material.
4.Assists in the annual physical inventory count.
5.Performs spot inventory checks as assigned during the year.
6.Applies efficient storage methods including allocation of proper bins or other storage spaces and security of stock.
7.Manually lifts and unloads a variety of items (up to 70 pounds), climbs ladders (up to 12 feet), and walks throughout warehouse (18,800 square feet) to complete a variety of inventory control tasks daily.
8.Operates forklift to move items from one location to another.
Surplus and Scrap Material:
1.Assists in the storage, loading and weighing of surplus scrap metal.
Housekeeping, Safety and Security:
1.Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly appearance both inside the warehouse and in the outside storage areas for proper inventory control and safety reasons using brooms, mops and leaf blowers.
2.Observes all warehouse safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action based on guidelines.
3.Uses all equipment and materials properly in daily work.
Customer Service and Quality Management:
1.Responds promptly to customer needs.
2.Responds to requests for service and assistance.
3.Timely meets commitments.
4.Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
5.Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in daily work.
Vehicles:
1.Assists in maintaining vehicles, to include cleaning and fueling of vehicles.
Emergencies/On-Call:
1.Must be available during emergency situations and be available for regular on-call rotation as required.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or GED required.
Must have knowledge of storekeeping methods and procedures, and knowledge of records used in the receiving, storing, inspecting and issuing of diversified goods.
Must have at least one year of general warehouse, stockroom, material handling, receiving, inventory control or electrical warehouse experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Must have, or be able to obtain, forklift certification within six months of hire.

In order to serve various departments with necessary inventory items during emergency situations, the employee must reside within one hour of the assigned work facility located at: Ocala Utility Services Warehouse, 1805 NE 30th Avenue, Building 700, Ocala, Florida 34470.
