Responsibilities

  • Maintain adequate stock of resale items.

  • Identify any obvious spoilage, damage, and out-of-date merchandise.

  • Receive, supply, equipment for resale items.

  • Operate a computer system that calculates and marks prices, and determines weights of merchandise.

  • Transport items to shelving and display areas.

Qualifications

Per OPM Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/X-118c/index.asp , the applicant's experience, education and training must show enough knowledge, skills and abilities to demonstrate the potential to successfully perform the duties of the position. Under this system, how applicants gained their skill and knowledge or the length of time they have spent in a line of work are not as important as the fact that they have the required ability or potential to do the job. This job has one critical element, called the screen-out element (SOE). Applicants who clearly fail to meet the lowest acceptable requirements in the SOE will be rated ineligible without further review of their application.

Applicants who do not receive two points on the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.

Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • Ensure the proper care and handling of resale grocery items.

  • Locate items for customers.

  • Rotate stock, stack containers and participate in inventories.

  • Operate a computer system to calculate prices and label merchandise.

  • Arrange stock on shelves and in displays.

Requirements Principal Duties and Responsibilities include: * Assist customers with daily material purchases of plumbing, electrical, building supplies and industrial repair parts. * Utilize computers and tablets to provide information on material pricing, availability and alternate product selection to complete customer transactions. * Resolve customer issues promptly and accurately in a manner to retain and promote customer loyalty. * Perform monthly cyclic inventory counts. * Process credit memos, reconciliation of daily sales and coordination with government employees for sales orders and invoicing. * Audit/Validate inventory and sales ensuring governmental compliance. * Replenish store stock daily. * Work effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals. * Take ownership in identifying and resolving problems. * Maintain a clean, safe and organized warehouse and workspace.
