GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Store Operations Education Manager is responsible for the development and sustainment of store operations organizational documents for field teams. Documentation includes, but not limited to, standard operating procedures, technical guides, key initiative training, and management development curriculum. This individual will work in partnership with the Enterprise Training team on the development and sustainment of operational training. He/She will provide inter-department and cross-functional guidance and leadership on innovative solutions that appeal to a broad audience in order to create an exceptional associate experience and a platform for flawless execution. This position requires the aptitude to influence colleagues, peers, and teams throughout the organization. The ideal candidate has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a history of developing learning curriculum based on knowledge of adult learning theories, and experience leading a team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

Store Operations Education Manager is a champion of Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently through the following (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):

Performance

  • Oversees the creation of publication-quality operational materials that reflect the company's brand image and culture and engages the audience (e.g., initiative guidebooks, implementation guides, and quick reference guides).

  • In conjunction with the Enterprise Training Team, develops comprehensive training programs for store teams and field leadership (e.g., key initiatives field teams will execute on, developmental courses, and leadership education).

  • Seamlessly shifts focuses to react to the changing needs of the business, without compromising quality.

  • Measures ROI by analyzing compliance, KPIs, and surveys results.

People

  • Participates in attracting, hiring, and retaining a diverse team of top talent on the store operations team.

  • Assesses performance, coaches, and develops leadership, encouraging a culture of growth and accountability.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally, both within the corporate office and field, to create and launch training.

  • Develops and facilitates comprehensive development workshops within the operations team, creating the foundation for influencing field adoption.

Process

  • Identifies innovative learning and development opportunities by remaining relevant in adult learning theories, industry trends, and training-related technology.

  • Identifies and prioritizes operational development opportunities and requests in order to create a strategy that includes both department and enterprise-driven priorities; executes to the strategy and reassesses on a quarterly basis.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field or equivalent professional experience

Experience

  • 7+ years of working experience in training and development

  • 3-5 years of curriculum/document development, including instructional design

  • Retail experience preferred

Skills

  • Expert level facilitation and presentation skills

  • Expert level verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to influence innovative solutions

  • Energy, enthusiasm, and drive to continuously and proactively manage a heavy workload

  • Strong computer skills, including, but not limited to Articulate training software, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, learning management system (LMS), interactive PDF development, and authoring tools

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a flexible, full-time schedule

  • Ability to travel, including overnight stays, as required (10%)

  • Normal office demands

  • Occasionally visit stores to develop an understanding of the store experience

The Sr. Manager will partner with creative directors, design, copywriting and photo teams to drive annual planning, resource management, financial management and process improvement across the Ulta Beauty in-house studio. The Sr. Manager will lead, coach and develop a creative operations team of 6 direct and indirect reports, inspiring team members to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance. Knowledge of marketing, creative design & production and retail are critical to developing innovative solutions that drive efficiency, creativity and stakeholder alignment. This individual will develop a creative infrastructure and operational model(s) to increase timeliness of communications, while supporting the creative development process for U.S. and Canadian business units. S/he will be comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leadership, driving business outcomes and gaining alignment across merchandising and marketing organizations. PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Manage creative design and production timelines across multiple creative channel teams (Digital, Print Advertising, Direct Mail, Loyalty, In Store Marketing & Branded Communications, Special Projects). * Develop end-to-end creative concept annual plan and drive cross-functional engagement and accountability throughout execution. * Design, implement and manage an integrated creative operating model for Canada leveraging synergies across Canadian and U.S. retail merchandising and marketing units. * Partner with creative directors, design and production teams to lead and facilitate all aspects of the creative production process including strategic briefing and project intake, concept development, photography process and timing, design development and approvals. * Collaborate with merchandising teams to develop and implement a clear and consistent process supporting alignment, accuracy and accountability. * Assess and influence business changes that impact cross functional teams; cascade information in a timely manner. * Facilitate cross functional team meetings to drive to aligned decisions. * Build, manage, analyze and propose operational changes based on analysis of department data to increase effectiveness and efficiencies. * Identify, recommend and implement data and technology solutions to optimize workflows. * Provide growth and development for opportunities for the team, and develop a team culture driving engagement, high performance and collaboration. #LI-JB2 Requirements * Bachelor's or Graduate degree in marketing, communications or general management * 7+ years of relevant experience * Substantial knowledge and understanding of multidisciplinary creative production workflows including digital, print and in store marketing * Superior time management, project management, organizational and leadership skills; ability to influence and manage outcomes * Ability to structure ambiguous problems, analyze complex processes, synthesize data and drive toward insights and solutions * Strong interpersonal communication skills required * Proven skills in managing large integrated marketing campaigns with a creative team * Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, particularly across merchandising, marketing, creative design and visual merchandising teams.
