Store Manager

Store Manager is to manage total store to maximize sales, Guest satisfaction, presentation and profitability and to minimize inventory shortage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sales

  • Manage total store to maximize sales and profits

  • Drive store's Credit Applications, Magazine Subscriptions and "40 & Fabulous" programs to achieve goals

  • Know sales goal, actual sales and trends to achieve plan

  • Ensure promotions are set and markdowns are taken in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner

  • Ensure proper execution and maximize productivity of key programs such as Tuxedo, Gift Card, and other ancillary sales

  • Guest Satisfaction/People

  • Ensure highest level of Guest Satisfaction is provided to all Gusts at all times and Guest expectations are exceeded

  • Implement and adhere to company's Guest satisfaction standards, and insist every Guest is acknowledged, thanked, and invited to return

  • Adhere to the guidelines of No Complaints Program to create a pleasant shopping experience for every Guest

  • Maintain a high level of personal motivation and integrity, setting an example for others

  • Ensure courteous and professional handling of returns

  • Actively and effectively recruit, interview and hire quality, motivated and service-minded candidates for all positions

  • Provide training on a continuous basis using company training programs to ensure understanding and compliance of all associates

  • Communicate relevant information regarding job responsibilities, goals and company objectives to associates

  • Delegate and assign associate duties fairly and follow-up on assignments

  • Evaluate and provide feedback to all Associates regarding their performance

  • Ensure consistency, fairness and proper documentation to improve associates' performance

  • Submit management work schedule to district manager on time and personally adhere to schedule as well as adhering to the weekly base schedule hours

  • Ensure all Associates comply with all applicable employment laws

  • Presentation

  • Maintain high level of merchandise presentation to company published standards and best practices

  • Ensure daily adherence to standards across all families of business (floor plans, adjacencies, density of merchandise flow, etc.)

  • React to all current direction and update merchandise presentation accordingly

  • Utilize visual tools to create exciting walls and windows per Quarterly Visual Merchandising instructions floor plans

  • Operations

  • Maintain and uphold standard of "Cleanest Store in Town" throughout the store including sales floor, bathrooms, fitting rooms, offices, wrap stations, associate break room, stockrooms, receiving and storage areas

  • Direct and execute all store operations, policies and procedures, key initiatives and best practices

  • Manage weekly/monthly payroll and non-payroll (electricity, supplies, etc.) expenses in line with budget and sales rate

  • Asset Protection

  • Protect store assets and hold shrink below Company Shrink Goal by ensuring all security policies and procedures are followed

  • Monitor fitting rooms and high risk areas of store

  • Comply with Store Operational Control Audit, Price Audit, Return Management and Shrink Reduction initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with procedures for receiving, shipping, sorting, and processing freight

  • Ensure proper store opening and closing procedures are followed and that store is secure at time of closing

  • Ensure damages are completed according to procedure and shipping deadlines

  • Ensure retention of records and files as directed by procedures

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate Degree or Retail Management Certification.

  • 2+ years of retail management experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to read and evaluate merchandise presentations and other reports

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Guests, associates, job applicants, etc.

  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously for up to 6 hours

  • Must be able to climb a utility ladder to reach shelves and walls that are as high as 9 feet

  • Must be able to bend down to handle and move merchandise and other objects

  • Must be able to grasp, lift and move objects weighing up to 25 lbs

  • Must be able to grasp and manipulate small objects, such as pricing or security tags; must be able to use a pen and/or a keyboard

The Assistant Store Manager will oversee other areas of the store in the absence of the Store Manager or other Assistant Manager(s) or Sr. Assistant Manager (if applicable). RESPONSIBILITIES Overseeing one or more areas/departments of the store Monitor departmental performance goals and review necessary reports to strategize in the planning and execution of department activities * Maximizing store sales and profits * Meeting all goals (i.e. sales, credit applications, magazine sales, if applicable, shrinkage, payroll, and expenses) * Developing a qualified, well trained staff * Ensuring proper execution of all store operations functions and company programs * Ensuring the highest level of Guest satisfaction * Maintaining company standards throughout the store * Protecting all company assets Supervise associates in the absence of the Store Manager The following is a list of activities to support the accomplishment of these major responsibilities: GUEST SATISFACTION * Ensure that all Guests are greeted in a prompt and friendly manner * Ensure that all Guests phone calls are handled in a courteous and helpful manner * Ensure that all associates are provided with merchandise information and effective sales techniques * Inform Guests of advertised and promotional events to increase sales volume * Solicit new accounts and promote Style Circle Rewards and magazine sales, if applicable. HUMAN RESOURCES * Assist in the preparation and delivery of performance evaluations * Assist in the utilization of company training programs * Assist in addressing poor performance and administering the counseling process as necessary MERCHANDISING * Direct and ensure compliance with current MMi floor plans * Direct seasonal outposts set-up * Direct and ensure accuracy of sales event set-up, if applicable * Ensure compliance with signing guidelines * Ensure compliance with Spot On merchandise, if applicable * Direct and ensure accuracy of clearance event set-up * Ensure compliance of fixture usage * Set and enforce standards for window and interior displays * Ensure stock keeping maintenance is followed (including Close Ready to Open policy) * Ensure compliance with merchandise presentation standards and departmental prototypes OPERATIONS * Ensure price changes are completed in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner * Ensure damages are completed according to procedure and shipping deadlines * Ensure compliance with procedures for receiving, sorting, and processing freight * Ensure that company assets (register and safe funds, bank deposits, equipment, etc.) are protected * Ensure proper maintenance of store equipment and property * Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards * Count and record all store funds daily, prepare bank deposits, prepare cash drawer funds, verify totals and count receipts. EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Ability to model and provide direction to hourly Associates on proper Guest Service approaches to ensure the Guest's needs, complaints and issues are successfully resolved within company guidelines and standards * Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others both written and verbally * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Ability to anticipate and solve problems * Ability to function as part of a team * Ability to Open and Close the Store per company guidelines * Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen * Must be at least 18 years of age. Under the age of 21 requires approval * High School diploma or GED equivalent is required * 1 to 3 years of retail or guest service experience is required * Must provide open availability for scheduled work shifts as business needs dictate.
