Summary:

The Manager in Training (MIT) position is expected tobe a short-term transitional role that provides both work assignments and trainingopportunities to prepare MITs to be promoted into Retail/Commercial StoreManagement positions. From the date of entry into the AutoZone MIT program, itmay be possible to progress to a management position within approximately 8-12weeks, depending on the prior experience and performance of the MIT.

Responsibilities:

An MIT is a member of the management team. As a memberof management, an MIT will be expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! CustomerService, and drive store execution and performance. Under the supervision ofthe Store Manager, the MIT will maintain an engaged, productivestore team through strong leadership, demonstrating initiative and leading byexample.

The MIT is responsible for supporting the Store Managerin the overall operation of the store to include:

  • Overall store retail/commercial management,supervision, and policy implementation

  • Financial management manage,analyze and reconcile monthly P&L statements

  • Employee staffing, training, anddevelopment

  • Inventory management

  • Customer service leadership

MITs are also responsible for completing operations andmanagement skills training, and learning about key aspects of the business and AutoZoneculture. MITs must maintain satisfactory performance and must demonstrateconsistent progression through the training program in order to remain in thepipeline role and be considered for management openings.

Note: Selection for the MIT position does not guaranteepromotion into a Store Manager/Commercial Sales Manager position. Whether andwhen an MIT is actually promoted to management is dependent on a variety offactors, including but not limited to performance and availability of managementopenings.

Requirements:

  • 1 -2 years of previous experience as a retail manager orsupervisor

  • Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, includingmorning, night and weekend shifts, and to work overtime as needed

  • Bilingualpreferred, but not required

  • Previousautomotive experience preferred, but not required

  • Previousexperience analyzing company financials including Profit and Loss Statementpreferred, but not required

General Position Summary: The ASM 2 - Sales Support Lead is responsible for the daily warehouse/stockroom/receiving and sales support activities and for driving sales and assisting customers on the retail sales floor as required. This individual is responsible for assisting the Store Manager (SM) and the ASM1 – Sales Supervisor in achieving or exceeding all operational standards and sales and profit goals on a daily, monthly and annual basis while adhering to all company policies, procedures, governmental regulations and customer service expectations. The ASM 2 - Sales Support Lead is also responsible for the overall management and operation of the store in the absence of the Store Manager (SM) and the ASM 1 - Sales Supervisor. This is considered a “key carrier” position and is responsible for opening and closing the store and routine handling of bank deposits. Position Qualifications: Education: * High school diploma, GED equivalency, or work experience sufficient to demonstrate high school level retail math and English skills Related Experience, Qualifications and/or Certifications: * One to three years of related sales/retail/customer service experience; hardwood flooring knowledge a plus * Previous warehouse/stockroom experience preferred * Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Computer Skills / Special Equipment Knowledge: * Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook) * Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems, preferred * Outstanding telephone skills * Ability to drive/operate a forklift required (forklift certification required prior to operating equipment) Additional Requirements: * Basic retail math skills * Written and verbal skills – ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and customers; Bi-lingual (Spanish) skills a plus * Working knowledge of project management and time management * Task Management – Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment, to see assignments through to completion, and to accept special projects as assigned * Customer Service – Ability to proactively assist customers, team members, managers and associates * Change Management – Adaptable to a fast paced, shifting work environment; willing to remain flexible to accommodate changing business conditions, work requirements, and scheduling needs * Detail Oriented – Attention to detail, ability to focus on the project or task at hand and consistently deliver error free results Physical Requirements: * Constant (more than 50% of the time) standing, walking, and hand/finger dexterity; lifting & carrying up to 80 lbs.; pushing & pulling up to 80 lbs. * Frequent (between 33% -50% of the time) reaching, squatting, kneeling, bending, and twisting * Occasional (up to 33% of the time) sitting, using ladder to climb * Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception) General Work Schedule: This position will generally work a standard fulltime workweek including evenings, frequent weekends (Saturday and Sunday), holidays and overtime as scheduled based on business and customer needs.
