Position Purpose:

We are currently recruiting for a Store Design Business & Project Planner for our Petco San Diego, CA location. This is an entry-level position where the successful candidate will be responsible for financial project tracking through various reports that focus on company and store project performance. Capture and summarize all costs related to capital projects from initial budget through invoice reconciliation and actuals posted. Cross functional lead for business initiatives with planning and financial responsibility. Assist Project Manager with Fixture/Merchandising liaison duties as needed. Projects should be completed with minimal supervision, while meeting scheduled production goals.

Essential Job Functions: The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Budgets & Forecasts:

  • Develop & maintain store specific budget forecasts for each new and remodel project using available scope notes, photos and field information. Review all funding requests for needed approvals or direction.

  • Lead & document store specific remodel review conference calls as dictated by company schedules.

  • Analyze spending to ensure that it is within budget, and take corrective actions for improper coding or missing invoices.

  • Accountable for maintaining accurate and up-to-date master budget and forecast tracking file.

  • Assist Visual Merchandising Store Design Project Manager with estimates for future financial needs.

  • Create, maintain and submit individual Capital Expenditure Requests and supporting documentation with strict adherence to the Finances Department timeline; accurately maintain documents, templates and/or reports.

  • Report weekly using standardized and customized formats as appropriate; ensure the integrity of all data presented.

  • Analyze reports to identify risks and opportunities within the business and make recommendations to the Visual Merchandising Store Design Project Manager for improvement.

  • Project Planner and Project lead on business initiative from conception to in store rollout.

  • Work directly with Planner, Merchants, Visual, and Fixtures to facilitate project; ensuring timelines are met, internal approvals given, and execution of goods, fixtures, and resources are completed prior to the in store date; track overall spending to ensure project stays on budget.

  • Coordinate with outside vendors, stores, and internal partners to gather specific details needed for project; and cross-functional collaboration with teams.

  • Support Visual Merchandising Store Design Project Manager and internal partners; being a liaison in relation to fixture receipt, build outs, feedback documentation and approval routing.

  • Partner with all positions in support of Merchandising initiatives across the department as dictated by business needs.

  • Actively participate in meetings with store operations, merchandising, marketing, construction and real estate; helping to ensure schedule and budgets are met, and decision support:

  • Ability to field any and all store specific questions with consideration to budget guidelines and financial impact to project budgets.

  • Partner with appropriate members of Visual Merchandising Store Design, Construction and Operations teams to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach is taken towards the business strategies and/or imperatives.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Although no direct subordinates are assigned, will lead or coordinate the work of associates in such departments as Merchandising, Inventory Management, Fixtures, and Operations to complete projects.

Work Environment:

The majority of duties are performed while seated indoors at a computer, but 20% local travel via automobile is required for physical test sets of product placement. Occasional travel via airplane may be required to train field personnel for special projects or rollouts.
