Job Description:

This is a hands-on engineering position, addressing tasks to provide senior storage operations support to the Infrastructure Operations Team. The multifaceted storage architecture supports storage for both physical and virtual servers hosting on-prem and in the cloud, off-site data replication, service level storage solution, monitoring and management.

This position is responsible for managing the operational posture of the Enterprise Storage solution and interconnections to attached storage (NAS, SAN, and Flash Storage types). Supporting incident, change and service request cases submitted to the Backup and Storage Team for resolution. Responsibilities require managing the Storage functionality and efficiency for multiple computer operating systems (OS). Administers and/or oversees Storage solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules which are critical to the success of programs. Supports proactive monitoring of storage systems, analyzes failures, troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on storage operating systems and hardware to detect problems. Execution and maintenance of the programs system recovery management plan. Strong initiative to use analytical and structured approaches to problem solving to drive efficient resolution of open incidents.

Duties include:

  • The role is primarily responsible for fulfilling day to day storage operations e.g., monitoring, troubleshooting failures, capacity management, storage creation. In addition, has accountability for ensuring data integrity, and providing detailed documentation of operational procedures.

  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple tiered storage infrastructures.

  • Sr. Storage Administrator will be responsible participating in 24/7 on call rotation

  • Understands and has excellent knowledge and skills to troubleshoot storage issues.

  • Needs to understand and monitor disk staging storage units (DSSU's).

  • Ability to work independently and to work on call rotation is a must.

  • Must be able to support windows and UNIX client in the enterprise storage solution.

  • Must follow established company processes, including change management, incident management, and problem management processes.

  • Strong leadership and excellent communication are a must, as well as being able to collaborate with challenging stakeholders and sponsors at all levels of the business

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to compose and brief senior management on current issues, projects and future enhancements, in a variety of delivery methods, to include: Executive Summary, capacity forecasting, project plans, Root Cause Analysis, After action reports, Acceptance of Risk

  • Advanced knowledge of NetApp Storage Area Network Filers and associated Storage Systems including SAN design/build engineering.

  • Advanced knowledge of EMC Storage vBlock, VNX, VMAX, etc.)

  • Experienced with Large Scale Storage Area Network Systems (Design, Build, Operate)

  • Experienced with management/monitoring tools (NetApp DataFabricManager (DFM), OnCommand, Performance Manager, System Manager, Unified Manager and SolarWinds)

  • Knowledge in storage and backup cloud Computing technologies (ONTAP Cloud, VRA, AWS S3 & S3 Glacier, SnapCenter)

  • Versed in virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Steel Fusion (Design, Build, Operate).

  • Enterprise backup/recovery operations utilizing EMC Networker with EMC Data Domain appliances, Cohesity, Catalogic.

  • Supporting storage provisioning for various platforms including Unix (Solaris/Linux), VMware, Hyper-V, SQL Server, Windows, and Oracle Database using RMAN.

  • Knowledge configuring & supporting external NetApp storage solution for backups/secondary storage of HCI

  • Developing, maintaining, and executing business continuity plans for disaster recovery.

Required Education/Skills:

  • Clearance: Public-Trust; DHS clearable

  • 8+ years of experience providing technical support to Enterprise operations with 8 years of experience supporting physical and virtual Linux/UNIX-based enterprise servers.

  • Previous experience supporting and troubleshooting storage issues on virtual servers, OS, and hosted application issues reported through monitoring or customer submittals.

  • Experience performing enterprise level project implementation and support with strong working knowledge of storage methodologies.

  • Collaborating in a team atmosphere; communicating through various technology channels with teams and end customers locally or remote.

  • Experience supporting government customers in secure environments, familiarity of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) operating standards and applicable guidelines.

  • Basic knowledge monitoring and management tools such as, SolarWinds, or similar server tools.

  • Experience with ITIL methodology; specifically Incident, Request and Change management principles and tracking systems.

  • Knowledge in storage and backup cloud Computing technologies (ONTAP Cloud, AWS S3 & S3 Glacier, vRA, SnapCenter)

  • Developing, maintaining, and executing business continuity plans for disaster recovery.
