Position Summary

Salary range for this position is: $42,540/yr. - $50,076/yr. (depending on experience)

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the Stockroom Attendant of the Wood Technology Center is responsible for receiving and issuing freight, maintaining inventory, and purchasing records, and for leading student workers in shipping, receiving, and purchasing functions. Interacts with college staff, vendors, and carriers. Regularly assigns, instructs and checks the work of others in the operation of a stockroom or have complete responsibility for offsite or mini stockroom operation under the supervision of department head, receives, issues, stores and inventories supplies in an organization stockroom in accordance with established policies and objectives. Plans and organizes work, determines the methods which will be used to complete work and assist in determining priorities and deadlines.

What you will be working on:

  • Reports to and provides input to Department Head on all matters of toolroom operations.

  • Works with WTC faculty and staff to prepare material and equipment orders for WTC programs.

  • Assists faculty and staff in delivering and storing material and equipment for WTC programs.

  • Assists students and faculty by issuing supplies from the stockroom.

  • Provides input to supervisor regarding direct reports¿ performance for their evaluations.

  • Maintains manual or automated inventory control of supplies, materials, and equipment, ensures proper inventory tags as outlined in state procedures, maintains records of equipment.

  • Monitors movement of stock and supplies, obtains estimates of future needs from users, prepares, and submits purchase orders and requisitions.

  • Tracking of departmental capital equipment, receiving, and delivery within all divisions and providing excellent customer to employees and students.

  • Check all invoices, packing slips and purchase orders for accuracy and completeness.

  • Develops stocking plans and rearranges stock to accommodate inventory movement, uses appropriate materials handling equipment to move stock and equipment.

  • Instructs users and stockroom personnel on cleaning and minor repair of used stock and equipment.

  • Prepares and prices inventory list for stockroom, expedites special orders from central stores and outside vendors.

  • Maintains stockroom and performs custodial duties in assigned areas.

  • Maintains the forklifts in safe working condition and performs daily safety inspection.

  • Cleans and makes and/or manages repairs on equipment in the stockroom and in the instructional labs.

  • Oversee Motor pool maintenance.

  • Maintains compliance with state and institution policies regarding receipt, issuance and inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment; assists in maintenance of equipment records; notifies supervisor when necessary to reorder inventory.

  • May mix flammable, toxic, corrosive and/or explosive chemicals and handle laboratory equipment under technical direction.

  • May dispose of surplus materials;

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

  • Demonstrated certification (or ability to gain certification) and ability to use forklift, pallet jack, hand truck and flatbed cart to unload, deliver and transport freight and packages.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of woodworking tools and their safety requirements.

  • Demonstrated commitment toward excellent customer satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to make the best use of available time and resources.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer skills with the ability to use email, word processing, and spreadsheet applications

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
