STL Neighborhood Foresters Volunteer Coordinator

STL Neighborhood Foresters' mission is to equip, educate, and empower residents to improve the health and vitality of the St.

Louis urban tree canopy as well as the community.

Hosting our first public event in 2019, we became a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2021. Our pilot program has now pruned, watered, and mulched Benton Park West neighborhood trees for two years and has expanded to several new neighborhoods. This VISTA position is in the Soulard neighborhood, so members will be able to socialize with AmeriCorps St.

Louis members and staff while serving near downtown St.

Louis. Our program partners with existing neighborhood anchor institutions to prioritize community goals and address tree-related needs. The VISTA member will assess our existing volunteer recruitment and management and develop new and improved programs and processes.

The applicant should possess good communication skills, project and organizational skills, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently. Previous experience with community advocacy, volunteer-based organizations, recruitment strategies, and training & development is helpful. VISTA members will be regularly scheduled for networking opportunities and professional development training.

The project starts June 15, 2024 and ends June 14, 2025. St.

Louis is a great place to live, with most destinations accessible without a car. There are many free attractions, or you can attend a Cardinals baseball game!
