Position SummarySterilize dental instruments including instrument cassettes, bur blocks, endo file boxes, and handpieces. Track dental instruments through all phases of the cleaning and sterilization process by utlilizing scanning technology.

Perform routine maintenance on a variety of dental equipment. Operate disinfection and sterilization equipment. Troubleshoot error messages, perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation of equipment.

Maintain files and records and provide support to clinic office staff. Qualifications Required Education:High school diploma or equivalent Required Experience:Up to 6 months of related experience. Familiarity with dental instruments.

Preferred Experience:Dental assistant training or experience. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to work in a fast paced and hectic environment. Strong interpersonal skills.

Ambulatory Surgery - #78049 Surgical Technician Level 3 10 - AmbulatorySurgery - Full Time, Days Roles & Responsibilities The Surgical or Operating RoomTechnician has knowledge and expertise in operating room technology, and isresponsible for assisting in the performance of routine and delegated functionsunder the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Performs scrub and sterile instrument dutiesper established guidelines. * Applies principles and practices ofasepsis; performs surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedure. * Sets up sterile instrument table andprepares supplies according to type of operation. Assists in draping of patientand operative area according to need. * Assists and anticipates needs ofsurgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to knowledgeof procedural requirements and constant monitoring of progress. Observespatient and is prepared for emergencies. * Maintains correct count of sponges,needles, and instruments with circulating nurse and report correctness ofdiscrepancies according to established policy and procedure. Maintains andmonitors aseptic technique at all times and institute corrective measures inthe event of contamination. * Assists in care, handling anddisposition of specimen according to policy. Assists in application ofdressings, and in securing drainage systems. Assists in moving patient toappropriate receptacle, decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and reusablesupplies and clean room as prescribed. * Assists the Registered ProfessionalNurse in performing circulating functions according to established guidelines. * Assembles all necessary suppliesaccording to requirements of the patient and surgical procedure. Providesspecial equipment before, during, and after surgical procedure, as needed. * Observes and protects patient bycorrect positioning, application of restraint, strict aseptic practice andmaintenance of aseptic environment. * Positions patient, adjusts table andaccessories, as required for procedure. Prepares operative area and assists indraping as directed. * Assists scrub in maintenance ofcorrect sponge, needle and instrument counts and reports discrepancies to thesurgical team and charge nurse. Completes operative count, and related recordsaccurately and legibly. * Observes personnel in the roomconstantly, control traffic, report and correct breaks in aseptic techniquepromptly. Maintains and cares for all specimens as directed to prevent loss ordamage. * Assists in application of dressing,moving of patient and transfer to recovery room as directed. Assists in roomclean-up and make preparations for next procedure. * Assists nurse in preparingmedications or solutions to be administered during surgery. * Saves all medication vials and/orampules until patient leaves the room. Announces in an audible voice the name,concentration, amount and route of administration of the medication. * Functions as a professional rolemodel inclusive of acting as a preceptor for students, hires newly hired staff,and incumbent staff. * Does not dispense narcotics orcontrol drugs under any circumstances. Registered Professional Nurse dispensesthese drugs to the physician. Performs functions to assist in meetingoperational needs: * Assists in transportation ofpatients to and from the surgical suite as directed. * Participates in the care and storageof instruments/special equipment in the operating rooms. * Assists in the maintenance of quotasof current dates for sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms andstorage areas. * Assists in keeping operating roomand sterile storage areas and equipment in good order. * Assists in care of storage closetsand cabinets. * Demonstrates accountability for ourpractice based on institutional/regulatory agency policies/procedures. * Maintains clinical competence and isresponsible for own professional development. * Assumes other responsibilities asassigned. Requirements * High School diploma required. * Courses in operating roomtechnology, science, biology and chemistry preferred. * Certification in Operating RoomTechnology required. * Preferexperience in operating room setting.
