Assists in the daily operation of the department. Participates in the development of procedures for use and care of Operating Room instrumentation, including preparation of specialty instrumentation such as endoscopic instrumentation and supplies.

Assists with and participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department's quality control programs. Assists with and participates in orientation, training, and supervision of new staff. Participates in the development and/or refinement of work stations.

Assists with the implementation of the department's inservice training program. Supervises and evaluates subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree and 1 year surgical technology or sterile processing experience in a healthcare related setting (preferably acute care) or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation/equipment and sterile processing equipment/processes essential.

Certification as a sterile processing technician strongly preferred. If not certified as a sterile processing technician, will be required to obtain within 18 months of hire date. Previous supervisory and administrative experience helpful.

VIEW JOBS 6/23/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-09-21T00:00 The work schedule based on 40 hour work week. This position is located at the Community Campus. Must be to work a primary shift of 3:00pm to 11:30pm with weekends and holidays on rotation; after a rotating shift training. Must follow written instructions from instements list using medical terminology. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively for purposes of information transfer with duties to include but not limited to: foverseeing principles of aseptic technique and performing quality checks with accuracy and reliability; overseeing and operating equipment for cleaning and disinfecting of surgical equipment; overseeing and participating in the assembly of complex as well as simple surgical sets; operating equipment for the sterilization of complex and simple surgical sets using Steam under pressure, Steris, and Sterrad; records the monitoring of sterilization and decontamination of equipment; trains and orients staff; responds to urgent and routine requests for surgical instrumentation from O.R. personnel. Other duties as assigned. Experience with decontamination, sterilization, ascpetic technique especially with flexible endoscopes w/channels is preferred. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a nationally accredited central service technician exam AND current certification administered by a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization as a registered central service technician, sterile processing and distribution technician, or possession of a substantially equivalent credential. OR Evidence of employment as a Central Service Technician in a Healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2015. OR Examination and certification as described above within eighteen months of hire.
