Assists in the daily operation of the department. Participates in the development of procedures for use and care of Operating Room instrumentation, including preparation of specialty instrumentation such as endoscopic instrumentation and supplies.
Assists with and participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department's quality control programs. Assists with and participates in orientation, training, and supervision of new staff. Participates in the development and/or refinement of work stations.
Assists with the implementation of the department's inservice training program. Supervises and evaluates subordinate staff.
Associates degree and 1 year surgical technology or sterile processing experience in a healthcare related setting (preferably acute care) or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation/equipment and sterile processing equipment/processes essential.
Certification as a sterile processing technician strongly preferred. If not certified as a sterile processing technician, will be required to obtain within 18 months of hire date. Previous supervisory and administrative experience helpful.
