Assists in the daily operation of the department. Participates in the development of procedures for use and care of Operating Room instrumentation, including preparation of specialty instrumentation such as endoscopic instrumentation and supplies.

Assists with and participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department's quality control programs. Assists with and participates in orientation, training, and supervision of new staff. Participates in the development and/or refinement of work stations.

Assists with the implementation of the department's inservice training program. Supervises and evaluates subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree and 1 year surgical technology or sterile processing experience in a healthcare related setting (preferably acute care) or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation/equipment and sterile processing equipment/processes essential.

Certification as a sterile processing technician strongly preferred. If not certified as a sterile processing technician, will be required to obtain within 18 months of hire date. Previous supervisory and administrative experience helpful.

The Respiratory Sterile Supply equipment technician shall process, assemble and re-assemble Respiratory Care mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilators, transport ventilators, aerosol delivery devices, mist tents and respiratory treatment devices. Delivers disposable supplies and safe handling and delivery of medical gas tanks and delivery systems to patient care areas. Minimum Qualifications 1. Successful completion of a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians AND current certification by a nationally accredited central sterile technician credentialing organization as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician, Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician or a substantially equivalent credential. OR 2. Ability to obtain required certification within 18 months of hiring date.
