Assists in the daily operation of the department. Participates in the development of procedures for use and care of Operating Room instrumentation, including preparation of specialty instrumentation such as endoscopic instrumentation and supplies.

Assists with and participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department's quality control programs. Assists with and participates in orientation, training, and supervision of new staff. Participates in the development and/or refinement of work stations.

Assists with the implementation of the department's inservice training program. Supervises and evaluates subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree and 1 year surgical technology or sterile processing experience in a healthcare related setting (preferably acute care) or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation/equipment and sterile processing equipment/processes essential.

Certification as a sterile processing technician strongly preferred. If not certified as a sterile processing technician, will be required to obtain within 18 months of hire date. Previous supervisory and administrative experience helpful.

VIEW JOBS 12/1/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-01T00:00 Schedule based on a 40 hour work week. Must be available to work 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., rotating pass days including every other weekend and some holidays. Duties include, but are not limited to: equipment decontamination, setup and operational verification for equipment to be issued; oversees collection, processing, delivery of equipment to patient areas accurately and promptly; performs minor repairs to equipment and refers major repairs to Clinical Engineering; assists equipment aids in prioritizing work based on incoming requests; may be required to call in additional staff or hold over staff as needed; checks staff assignments for completion at various times during shift and completes written and verbal shift reports; answers the telephones and greets visitors/customers; checks calls and call data base for completeness; reports equipment unavailability to units and to department staff via log/board updates; trains and orients new staff as assigned; performs data entry and looks up information via computer system. Candidates with one year of experience cleaning medical equipment are preferred including issuing equipment, picking up soiled equipment, decontamination of equipment, function verification and setup for reissue. Knowledge of the use of personal protection equipment, proper cleaning techniques, and basic computer skills (information lookup, data entry) are also preferred. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians AND current certification by a nationally accredited central sterile technician credentialing organization as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician, Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician or a substantially equivalent credential. OR Evidence of employment as a Central Service Technician in a Healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year between January 1, 2011 and January 1, 2015. OR Ability to obtain required certification within 18 months of hiring date. Work days: 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., rotating pass days including every other weekend and some holidays.
