The Sterile Processing Technician cares for and maintains all surgical instrumentation.

Required Skills

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • 2-3 years of experience as Instrument Room Technician. Experience with all types of sterilizers.

  • Certification required.

  • Knows operation room instrumentation. Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray. Understands operation of steam/gravity sterilizer, Steris, washer sterilizer, and ultrasound unit.

The Certified Scrub Tech: * functions as sterile member of the operating room nursing team, * assists surgeons and professional nursing staff as directed, * assists with management of equipment and supplies, * assists with orientation of new scrub technician staff, * provides call coverage as assigned. Licensure/Certification: * Graduate of an accredited educational program for Surgical Technologist and current CST or employed to practice Surgical Technology in a healthcare facility prior to September 1, 2009 required . * Current Healthcare Provider BLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
