The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) is located in the Southwestern Alaska town of Bethel, with a total of approximately 6,000 people. YKHC supports 1500 employees, providing the health services to a primarily Yup'ik Eskimo Native population for an area the size of Oregon. Services are provided through a Bethel located hospital and 50 clinics throughout the YK Delta.

Position Summary:

Sterile Processing Technician I: Under direct/indirect supervision follows approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies and procedures. Collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and/or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment for Inpatient Nursing and Clinics. Inventories, restocks, and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment and medical supplies to all service areas. Works a majority of time in a Sterile Processing Department cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing, preparing packs, instruments, and trays for all service areas. Will process operating room instruments. May assist in departmental in-services and training. Correctly documents sterilization records and completes departmental dashboard on a monthly basis. Performs routine duties according to AMMI standards and established policies and procedures of the Department. Within one year of employment must obtain a Sterile Processing Certification (SPD)

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Minimum Experience: This is entry level position and the employee will be trained by a certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (SPD)

  • Specialized Knowledge and

    Skills:
    Knowledge or willingness to learn sterilization procedures, equipment, instruments, wrapping and repackaging of instruments. Knowledge or willingness to learn inventory system and maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies and equipment within the surgical department.
  • Equipment/Tools: Responsible to learn and distinguish all sterilization equipment dealt with in Surgery.

Position Summary: This position will assist the pharmacists and act as a liaison between the pharmacy and the village clinics. Position Qualifications: * High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Must pass basic math quiz. * Pharmacy technician experience preferred. * Past work experience should include customer service and/or detail oriented positions. * Valid driver's license preferred. * Office equipment (i.e., computers, multi-line telephone, fax machine, etc.) * Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to speak Yup'ik is preferred. * Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
