Job Summary:

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of patient care. This position revolves around the complete decontamination of instruments, assembly, and preparation of instrument sets, packaging, sterilization, and the meticulous assembly of case carts for our Operating Room. You'll also be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment, supplies, and instruments used for patient care across our Medical Center and off-site MGH facilities. Your commitment to maintaining infection control and safety standards will be paramount.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Cleans, disinfects, and decontaminates medical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods, substances, and equipment.

  • Inspects, assembles, and packages supplies.

  • Sterilizes medical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods, substances, and equipment. Distributes supplies throughout the entire organization.

  • Monitors sterilization processes and documents quality assurance testing.

  • Certification: Certification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) through IAHCSMM or Certification as a CSPDT (certified sterile processing and distribution technician) through CBSPD is required within 2 years of hire.

Training and Support:

  • Initial Intensive Training: Up to 16 weeks of comprehensive training to ensure you are well-equipped for success in your role.

  • Ongoing Support: Continued support and mentorship as you integrate into the team, grow in your position, and obtain your CRCST Certification.
