Responsible for inspecting, disinfecting, assembling, processing, and distributing patient care instruments, equipment, and supplies in accordance with established policies, procedures, and AAMI standards.
Acts as a role model and resource to peers and other members of the health care team related to processing of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Stores, rotates, and ensures all instruments and supplies are correctly labeled.
We typically have the following shifts available:
1st Shift 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Mid-Shift 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
2nd Shift 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
3rd Shift 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
The initial 90-Day Training takes place from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Sterile Processing Orientation Exams:
All SPD new hires are required to take 6 exams as part of their new hire orientation within the department.
SPD Test 1, SPD Test 2, SPD Test 3, SPD Test 4, SPD 60-Day Competency, and SPD 90-Day Competency.
All tests must receive a passing score of 80% or higher.
If an individual receives a score of less than 80%, they will be required to re-take the exam and must get a score of 80% or higher.
Failure of 2 exams, original or re-take, will result in dismissal from the department.
Based on specific Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate 90 Days.
All new hires go through a 90-Day of orientation.
Orientation takes places 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday for 90 days.
Once done with orientation, you will move to your regular shift.
