Sterile Processing Tech III's coordinates case carts, add-ons and will serve as the contact person in Sterile Processing for the service in which they are assigned. Will have direct contact with physicians, nurses, scrub techs and the supervisor of each service. This person will organize, and provide work direction to meet the production goals of the department. Assures policy and procedures are maintained according to established guidelines. Serves as liaison and resource for staff and customers regarding sterilization, processing of surgical instruments, and sterile instrument storage.
Understands the use of instrumentation.
Ensure staff follow cleaning procedures per manufacturer's instructions.
Maintains established inventory of supplies and instruments.
Department as outlined by policy and procedure.
Demonstrates understanding of basic principles of all types of sterilization methods used at SVIMC and operates/maintains sterilizers
Mentors and trains peers to achieve departmental goals.
Assures prudent use of resources and efficiently maintains instruments and processing supply inventory.
Continuously audits inventory activity of instrumentation for the services in the Operating Room.
Initiates appropriate inventory adjustments in a timely manner
Education: High school diploma, G.E.D., Metropolitan Test or equivalent, Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician.
Experience: 5 years of experience in a Sterile Processing Department.
Physical Requirements:This job requires, at various times, the following physical activities; climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, carrying, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, talking, and hearing, sometimes exerting in excess of 10-50 pounds of force.
