Summary:Under direct and indirect supervision follows approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies and procedures. Cleans, decontaminates, disinfects and or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and reusable medical devices for inpatient Nursing departments and PMG clinics.

Inventories, restocks and distributes instruments and reusable medical equipment to the Operating Room. Works a majority of time in a Sterile Processing Department cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing instruments, and trays for the Operating Room. Cleans, decontaminates, disinfects and stores the GI scopes.

Qualifications

Level I Requirment

High school or equivalent. One year experience in sterile processing environment, hospital or clinic (medical or veterinary) preferred.

Previous experience with handling of sterile supplies preferred. National certification for sterile processing preferred.

Level II Requirment

High school or equivalent. National certification in Sterile Processing required
