Job Summary and Qualifications

As our Central Sterile Manager, you will direct all activities in the sterile processing department, orienting and directing shift team members. You will ensure all equipment & records comply with governing agencies standards. You will work closely with OR staff and all other departments concerning equipment and tray problems. Consistently follow the National Standards and Recommended Practices for Sterilization, supplies, and equipment and promotes collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, department heads, and personnel of other departments.

• Demonstrate clinical competence to practice within Central Sterile's Scope of Care.

• Directly responsible for the SPD staff functions on a daily basis. Ensure staffing in each area of SPD to support case flow and room turnover. Monitor individual performance and set goals for staff development. Act as a resource and clinical role model to staff

• Lead quality improvement efforts to include data collection and PI implementation; review and interpret data and take action as needed.

• Monitor OR schedule in advance to plan for instruments/instrumentation and takes appropriate action to ensure needs are met for cases.

• Coordinate an instrumentation maintenance and replacement program to ensure availability of needed instruments.

• Directly responsible for the functions of the resource technician in preparation and completion of all case carts in a timely manner.

• Arrange emergency and preventative maintenance on equipment and instruments and communicates updates to appropriate staff.

• Work closely with OR Specialty Coordinators maintaining trays, equipment, and storage of instruments.

• Manage instrument inventory and the inventory/count sheets. Assists in developing instrument sets.

• Maintain a good working knowledge of the tools and techniques to correctly process each instrument to ensure sterility and proper functioning.

What qualifications you will need:

• Minimum of Associates degree in related field. Bachelors in related field preferred.

• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (formerly NICHSPDP) OR CRCST from IAHCSMM.

• Minimum five years sterile processing experience with at least 2 years of in a leadership position.
