SPD Equipment Technician

The Sterile Processing Equipment Technician is responsible for the collection, cleaning, decontamination and disinfection of reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures.

This includes:

  • Decontaminating reusable instruments, equipment and supplies including but not limited to IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, Pneumatic pumps, hypo/hyperthermia units.

  • Restocking of procedure carts.

  • Filling requests for medical/surgical supplies, procedure trays and patient equipment and assisting with department inventory management.

Specifications:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • One year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification preferred. Knowledge of Central Sterile Department patient care supplies and equipment.

  • Work requires the ability to be compliant with Infection Prevention, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.

VIEW JOBS 6/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-09-08T00:00 SPD TECH II Certified The SPD Tech receives/retrieves, cleans, assembles and sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies from all areas of the Hospital; prepares and dispenses medical/surgical patient supplies to all areas of the Hospital. This includes: * Preparing instruments and specialty instrument trays for packaging prior to sterilization. * Prioritizing the assembling of instrument sets according to Departmental needs. * Making rounds to designated areas to collect items. * Receiving soiled items in decontamination area of S.P.D. and decontaminating reusable instruments, equipment and supplies. * Preparing patient equipment for use. * Filling requests for medical/surgical supplies, procedure trays and patient equipment. Specifications: * Certified through a national sterile processing program recognized by New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. * One to two (1-2) years of prior Central Service experience desirable, which may include at least 6 months experience as SPD Tech I. * Experience must include knowledge of Orthopedic, Vascular, Neuro and ENT instrumentation.
