Monterey Park Hospital, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is recruiting for a Central Services (Sterile Processing) Technician. This is a full time, 8 hour shift position for our Central Services Department.

This position reports to our Surgery Director. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital. Monterey Park Hospital has provided our community with advanced medical and culturally sensitive healthcare services for over 40 years.

The Central Services (SPD) Technician demonstrates knowledge and expertise in instrument processing techniques following TJC guidelines, Title 22, CMS and other regulatory guidelines on decontamination, assembly and sterilization. This position will decontaminate and reprocess used instruments using appropriate sterile technique, dries the instruments, assembles trays, examines instruments for damage, wraps and dates the trays prior to stocking.

The SPD Technician makes equipment rounds and returns soiled instruments to the SPD department. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Cidex OPA, IUSS, steam sterilizers, automatic instrument cleaner and other related equipment. The candidate must have knowledge of proper procedures used for cleaning heat sensitive instruments.

The Central Services (SPD) Technician will document timely on the required SPD logs. Additional duties include reviewing PAR levels of CDP/OR supplies and orders supplies/equipment as needed for the Department answers the phones and assists other staff as requested/needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Hospital or surgical center instrumentation experience preferred. Graduate from

an accredited CS Technician program required. Sterile Processing Certification preferred.
