The Library Technician STEPS position in the Federal Depository Unit will assist with all collection processing activities, including offers and needs matching notifications from the ASERL Disposition Database, receipt of offers material using Alma, and copy cataloging if necessary. This work will involve working with the Federal Regional Depository Collection in both Young and King Libraries. This may involve any of the following activities or other duties as assigned:

  1. Assist with our work on the ASERL (Association of Southeastern Research Libraries) Collaborative Federal Depository Program (CFDP). This work will involve receipt and processing of titles acquired for the WPA, Smithsonian and Appalachian Regional Commission collections. Tasks may include SuDoc number verification, analysis of condition, identifying items that are available digitally, preservation of damaged pieces, editing of Alma records, preparing materials for digitization, etc.
  2. Assist with management of and problem-solving for our ASERL offers and needs matching process. Work will involve reviewing of offers and needs matches in ASERL Disposition Database to identify materials we need to claim for our SuDoc collection, as well as receiving and processing materials claimed.
  3. Identify copy cataloging for pre-1970 Appropriations Committee hearings and prepare items for transfer to our print archive.
  4. Other technical service duties as assigned, including purging superseded materials from SuDoc stacks.

Inventory, clean, and stock rooms between patients and during downtime to ensure appropriate supplies, medications, and equipment is readily available for physician and patient.
