STEM Tutor- Summer 2024

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL, formerly known as CAPS) is looking to hire a new statistics tutor to support Math and Science classes in our drop-in center for the Summer of 2024 and potentially continuing on to the Fall 2024 semester. CTL's mission is to make learning more accessible for everyone on UNM's campus by providing services that meet the needs of all Lobos.

We are a peer-centered learning center, which means that as a tutor you'll be supporting your fellow Lobos while also having the opportunity to focus on your own content mastery and tutoring skills. Each semester, CTL tutors will gain accreditation through the nationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association.

We are looking for students who have done well in their classes and are excited about helping their peers. Prior experience with tutoring is appreciated, but not required.

Applicants should be comfortable helping their peers with Math 1350, and potentially algebra and calculus classes. Tutors should have received a B+ or higher in the classes that they are applying to tutor or have shown success in more advanced statistics classes.

Work-study is not a requirement to work for CTL.

We will be open from 11:00am

• 4:00pm during the Summer Monday

• Thursday, and prospective summer tutors should be available for at least two of these shifts.

Statistics

Statistics tutors should have taken at least Intro to Stats (Math 1350. Our Statistics tutors should also be comfortable tutoring in at least one other subject area (typically Economics or Math)
