We are currently seeking Part-Time STEM Research Center Assistant who will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement, provide assistance in all aspects of the facility, and seize a great opportunity to be trained in both general laboratory and greenhouse skills.



High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred: Some College Coursework in Biological and Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, or Horticulture.



  • Must possess or acquire Workplace Safety Training for Pesticide Handling and Application.
  • Prior Laboratory or Greenhouse experience.


  • Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to learn new laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle delicate tasks as well as lift heavy objects repeatedly.
  • Ability to perform manual labor in varying environmental conditions.
  • High level of computer skills (word processing/excel/etc.).
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong math background.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Desire to learn.


  • Follow safety standards and procedures.
  • Assist in setting up experiments and projects for Faculty and Students.
  • Perform general greenhouse operation functions including soil sterilization, seeding, transplanting, watering, cleaning, and greenhouse controls.
  • Set up growth chambers.
  • Perform general maintenance of equipment and restocking of supplies.
  • Clean the greenhouse (pressure wash bays and sanitize supplies/equipment).
  • Work independently and as a team member.
  • Perform additional duties or job functions required and deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, frequently required to sit or stand for long periods, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed. Must be able to continuously lift 50lbs; climb a 12-foot ladder; lift and move heavy objects.

Working Conditions: Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions (hot/cold/humid/wet).

Working Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Salary: Aligned with the current published salary scale for the represented position grade, commensurate with experience.
