Position Summary & Responsibilities:
This position supports Kansas educators, the Kansas State Board of Education (KSBE), and the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Specifically, this position serves as a lead in (1) providing direct technical assistance to schools and (2) coordinating the work of exemplar educators across the state in all subject areas related to STEM to assist schools with instruction, procedure and policy.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in relevant degree field(s) as determined by the agency. Experience may be substituted for education as deemed relevant by the agency.
Preferred Skills and/or Qualifications:
Advanced degree in relevant degree field(s);
Knowledge of current research and issues related to the areas of Science
Knowledge of current research and issues related curriculum and instruction;
Knowledge of school improvement and technical assistance;
Broad knowledge of educational issues;
Basic knowledge of testing/assessment principles and practices;
Knowledge and skills related to group dynamics and team participation and facilitation;
Effective teaming, interpersonal, staff development and facilitation skills;
Knowledge of federal grant writing and reporting protocols;
Skills in report writing and communication of findings to a range of audiences;
Excellent public relation and communications skills;
Effective problem-solving, planning and decision-making skills; and
Ability to design and implement programs and facilitate staff development.
Preferred Experience:
Experience as a teacher in a field related directly to STEM (e.g., science and mathematics);
Experience with elementary, middle school or high school instruction; and
Experience with managing budgets.
