STEAM Teacher/Technology Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid NJ Instructional Certificate and/or Elementary Education certification

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods

  • Required criminal history background check

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of technology integration and quality instruction

  • Ability to differentiate professional development for teachers based on skill levels

  • Experience with providing professional development for adult learners

  • Self-motivated and willing to develop expertise and skills in new technologies

  • Understand the use of technology as a source for interventions

  • Experience with a variety of educational technology tools

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Superintendent

SUPERVISES: Pupils, and when assigned, student teachers and classroom aides.

JOB GOAL: To inspire and nurture the innovative potential in each student by delivering engaging, technology-integrated STEAM education that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. This role aims to develop and refine a dynamic district STEAM curriculum, manage and enhance the STEAM lab and resources, and promote experiential learning through real-world, hands-on tasks that incorporate 21st-century skills and career readiness. As an instructional coach, the goal is to empower teachers by providing comprehensive technology integration support, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement in teaching practices through co-teaching, personalized feedback, and professional development opportunities. By building strong, trust-based relationships with faculty and staying current with educational best practices and technology trends, this role seeks to elevate the teaching and learning experience, ensuring that both students and staff are equipped to thrive in an ever-evolving digital world.

STEAM TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers S.T.E.A.M.-oriented instruction in a relevant and innovative setting.

  • Develops and revises district S.T.E.A.M. curriculum to align with the current NJSLS - Computer Science and Design Thinking Standards.

  • Manages materials and resources for S.T.E.A.M program and lab.

  • Promotes the integration of S.T.E.A.M. concepts through experiential learning opportunities including incorporating the 21st Century Career Readiness, Life Literacies, and Key Skills as per NJSLS.

  • Uses various technology platforms to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.

  • Utilizes multiple instructional technologies to engage students and enhance instruction.

  • Fosters discovery and problem solving skills, along with an inquiry-based approach to learn through real-world hands-on tasks.

  • Attends professional development and training related to S.T.E.A.M programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research.

  • Follows the district's job description for elementary education teachers.

  • Organizes, develops, and coordinates special S.T.E.A.M. events/activities.

  • Management of S.T.E.A.M. Lab and schedule.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal and Superintendent.

TECHNOLOGY COACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technology integration support for individual teachers, grade-level teams, and school faculty.

  • Provide classroom instructional support for teachers through co-teaching, modeling, providing feedback, co-planning, and developing resources.

  • Build awareness and generate enthusiasm for technology resources.

  • Utilize and model technology integration strategies to support differentiation.

  • Provide differentiated professional growth opportunities for staff.

  • Build trusting, one-to-one relationships with staff.

  • Assist in assessing and tracking technology skill levels of students and teachers and then use the data to develop a professional development plan for staff.

  • Be visible and an available resource within the building.

  • Work collaboratively with the district technology coordinator.

  • Stay abreast of current technology trends, teaching strategies, and educational best practices.

  • Assess and provide input for technology resource purchases based on stakeholder input.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be based upon negotiated agreement between the MHTA and the Board of Education.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with state law and provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of certified staff.
