GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The STREAM Academy Education Program Manager is responsible for the creation, delivery, and daily operation of the Da Vinci Science Center’s ASD Partnership programs to support the Science Center’s mission and address high priority community needs. The Manager leads the daily operations of the ASD partnership and STREAM Academy, an innovative museum-school partnership integrating Science, Technology. Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STREAM). Primary responsibilities include 1) Research, create, deliver and evaluate programs on a variety of STREAM topics, 2) Manage operations of programs and play a lead administrative role including scheduling, materials, lab and supply management, and safety 3 ) Lead data collection, track grant and report deadlines, and compile data for reports 4) Train and mentor STREAM Educators affiliated with the ASD partnership, including delivery of professional learning. The successful Manager works closely with team members across departments and in the community to continuously expand impact and reach. The flexible schedule includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Development and Delivery for ASD Partnership Programs

•Deliver ASD STREAM Academy and ASD Partnership programs at the Science Center and in the community.

• Research local and national resources to develop high quality programs aligned with priority ASD needs. Actively participate in Curriculum Development Teams.

• Oversee the development, design, production and implementation of new programs as assigned.

• Engage with scientists, engineers, technologists, artists, educators, and other STREAM professionals to develop relevant and leading-edge programs. Develop strong partnerships with schools and businesses.

• Lead program development meetings, moving the creative process forward efficiently and effectively while keeping all partners engaged and included in important decision making. Produce high quality program documentation and training materials.

• Lead the process to evaluate current and future program success by implementing established evaluation procedures. This includes distributing program evaluations to participants, ensuring timely collection of data and reviewing data with staff to make program improvements.

• Champion the programs across departments, ensuring all departments have relevant info about the program and are engaged and informed. Staff Support and Training:

• Convey vision for STREAM and initiative related programs to staff. Enable staff to focus on meeting this vision.

• Develop, learn, and deliver professional learning programs as needed.

• Prepare staff with content, pedagogy, and effective presentation techniques for what they are teaching. Implement a variety of learning opportunities for staff to improve their performance.

• Ensure staff compliance with safety training and procedures, clearances, policies and standard operating procedures.

• Train staff on new programming and provide consistent coaching, mentoring, and feedback, including employee observations. Learn and implement research-based observation tools for providing employee feedback. Implement intervention strategies when needed.

• Support educators in meeting their professional learning goals.

• Make diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging a priority in training and daily operations.

• Identify and solve any human resource issues that arise in partnership with the Human Resource department. Lead Administrator and Operations

• Lead scheduling for STREAM Academy Programming (school day schedule, after school programs, Mobile Fab lab, and family engagement) coordinating with all departments and with Central Elementary. • Work with other departments to keep track of all ASD Partnership programming components and ensure they are delivered on time and on budget.

• Create and enforce procedures that promote efficiency and ensure a positive and safe experience for staff and customers.

• Make safety a priority in all program operations. Ensure best practices in chemical safety and lab equipment. Train others as needed.

• Develop budgets and track progress towards revenue and other metrics.

• Take the lead in purchasing and lab management including maintenance of education equipment. Ensure accurate record keeping and make sure all purchases comply with Science Center purchasing policies and budget.

• Contribute to marketing and communications. Take direct actions and collaborate with teams across the organization to effectively implement the plans.

• Collaborate with other team leaders to align programs, initiatives, and resources efficiently.

• Actively participate in selected cross departmental project teams.

• Foster effective, timely, and accurate communication between departments

• Promote a positive team atmosphere. Actively participate in solving Science Center challenges as they arise. Lead Data Collection and Program Evaluation

• Oversee the collection, entry, and storage of education data for the ASD Partnership.

• Implement established data collection procedures or participate in establishing new ones.

• Train staff on collection of program data.

• Prepare reports for staff, customers, and grant reports.

• Use data to improve programs and suggest new programs and initiatives in the future.

• Track and communicate grant and report deadlines between departments. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a STEAM or Education field required

• Experience and passion for working with K-12 students and the public. Classroom experience preferred.

• Ability to represent the Da Vinci Science Center and its values.

• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and provide them with clear vision and guidance.

• Ability to work with staff at all levels in a collaborative environment; ability to foster and sustain inclusive workplace relationships.

• Ability to independently solve problems.

• Exceptional organization and communication skills.

• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with businesses, schools, and community. Demonstrated ability to listen and take action.

• Deeply held belief that all people belong in STEAM.

• Experience with budgets, staffing, deadlines, metrics, deliverables, and ability to think strategically about the resources and actions needed for sustainability and growth.

• Exceptional communication, public speaking, and presentation skills. Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years developing educational content.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred with the ability to read, write, speak and translate materials
