Northrop Grumman is in need of a Statistician too collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, use classical and modern statistical methods. Location will be City Manhattan Beach, California. Will perform statistical analysis for accuracy assessment on missile systems for the Air Force ICBMs. Tasks involve post flight analyses of missile trajectories, using least squares and filtering techniques, error analyses of guidance hardware and software, reentry aerodynamics statistics, modeling and simulation. Candidate should be knowledgeable in some or all of the following areas, design of experiments, regression, hypothesis testing, error estimation, filtering, and statistical mathematics.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering

  • 2 years of Statistician experience with a BS degree or a Master's degree with no experience required

  • Experience with C , MATLAB, Fortran

  • US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess an active DoD Top Secret Clearance

  • Work experience in ICBM flight dynamics, targeting, orbital mechanics and reentry dynamics

  • Working knowledge of 6-Degrees of Freedom Trajectory Simulations

  • Good interpersonal skills working in a team environment and with customer

The selected candidate will develop and implement software to support manufacturing and test in a lab environment supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems. Essential Functions: * Develop and maintain software to automate testing of RF, Power, Digital, or Mixed Signal devices that range from chips to subsystems. * Develop and maintain tools for data trending and post processing. * Understand the domain of the devices under test, including the test methodologies and the respective instrumentation. * Provide innovative solutions that decrease test time, decrease data review time, or improve quality of data * Work closely with multiple stakeholders, including test engineers, responsible design engineers, and system engineers * Provide timely support on the factory floor to ensure minimal delays in test The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, heavy multi-tasking, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of software engineering experience OR Master's Degree in STEM and 0 years of software engineering experience * Holds Top Secret or SCI security clearance Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering * Experience developing software/writing code in C#, Java, or other object oriented languages * Experience with instrument automation and test set software development * Experience with object oriented software development practices * Experience in database design and SQL * Experience with XML * Knowledge of spacecraft systems, including the test methodology and instrumentation required to test RF, Power, Digital, or Mixed signal devices * Experience working closely with hardware engineers and with multiple stakeholders Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
