SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position will support Amtrak's Stations Design Team by performing tasks as directed by department design professionals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Search for, and file, drawings and documents in department document library.

  • Perform design and drafting on AutoCAD .

  • Edit, revise and publish written construction project specifications manual.

  • Revise and publish scopes of work.

  • Manage department master specifications library.

  • Assist in document reproduction .

  • Perform calculations for review and approval by professional .

  • Assist with correspondence .

  • Assist with internal survey to support internal design projects .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.

Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Architecture.

Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.

Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours of Monday Friday, 8am 5pm.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AutoCAD design and drafting experience highly preferred.

  • Two or more years of academic experience preferred, or Junior status. Graduate degree also preferred.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks .

  • Desire to pursue building design career.

  • Interest in railroad transportation industry.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications .

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

SUMMARY: As an Intern at Amtrak, you will learn the foundational principles in project management and make tangible impact on a wide range of complex, transformational projects in a real-world rail industry environment. You will work under close supervision of a project/program manager and in collaboration with all levels of stakeholders: from department leaders, to project/program managers, business analysts, and functional leads. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Assist project manager in developing monthly and special reports using data provided by assessment, financial controls and project management teams * Create and maintain required documentation including project organization charts, distribution lists, project logs, project schedules, requirements documents, project budgets, and status reports * Assist in development and review of project scope, schedule and budget. Some travel to local site visits as needed.
