Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
Works under the supervision of the Supervisor / Lead Plant Operations Engineer. Assists in delivering quality, cost effective health care by being responsible for the operation of the of the Central Plant. This operations will be operated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer, JCAHO, OSHA, SCAQMD and all regulatory requirements. Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operation of the following systems for the facility: Boiler heating and steam systems. HVAC chiller systems and pumps. Co-generation and emergency generator power systems

Education

Licensure/Certification
Experience
Required: 2 years as a maintenance mechanic working with boilers/HVAC equipment
Preferred: 2 years in healthcare environment
Essential Responsibilities
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
Operates all plant equipment. Regularly starts, stops, and demonstrates the ability to adjust and regulate equipment as necessary.
Maintains all plant equipment. Thoroughly performs routine maintenance, lubrication, cleaning of boilers and boiler room equipment on a daily basis and documents these in the logbook.
Demonstrates responsibility for the containment of hospital costs and conservation of electricity, gas, water, etc. through the proper operation and adjustment of equipment on-line based on the needed load.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment, insures necessary department supplies are up to par, and does an accurate and timely department documentation.
Communicates with Supervisor and end user when undue delays / conflicts occur in performing repair work.
Maintains adequate inventory and tools in good working condition necessary to perform maintenance duties.
Communicates with vendors and schedules repairs when equipment is not running satisfactorily.
Works with consultants to obtain and submit SCAQMD data from boilers and Cogen engines.
Performs maintenance work on boilers annually to pass yearly inspections.
Completes preventative maintenance (PM) repair work on a variety of equipment and logs this into the TMS system.
Performs weekly eye wash station checks in Central Plant.
Coordinates yearly backflow device inspections with vendor and assists with report completion.
Completes biannual steam shutdown procedure to perform maintenance on steam system.
