Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer II, the Stationary Engineer, performs work to a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance and repair of boiler, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, lighting, power, water, water treatment, access controls, and fire systems in State-owned and occupied buildings. May instruct, or lead other engineers when supervision is not available, and do other work as required.

The position is based in Los Angeles and may require overtime during nights and weekends, as necessary, to be present during events outside of regular business hours. A flexible schedule is available, however, full remote work or telework is not an option.

Working Conditions

Works in both indoor and outdoor environments depending on assignment. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting equipment, manual, and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, grabbing, carrying, kneeling, twisting, and reaching at, or above, shoulder level; includes bending and twisting.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Certificate. You will be required to provide a copy of your certificate prior to being hired.
