Job Description and Duties
STATE PARK EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT)

The reporting location for this position is Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma, CA. This position will work under the general direction of Park Maintenance Chief I.
The incumbent's work schedule will be Tuesday to Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
The State Park Equipment Operator assists with vegetation management projects including log skidding, fuel reduction, prescribed fire, and tree removal; makes repairs to roads throughout the District, maintaining them in a safe and functional condition. Operates and maintains all equipment needed to accomplish facility maintenance projects, which will include large loaders, excavators, graders, rollers, back hoes, and snow removal equipment. Assist other Maintenance and Resource staff with various projects and will operate and transport equipment to accomplish the task. Operate and transport equipment in structural and wild land firefighting/flood control.
This position requires a valid Class A driver's license. You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions. This position will be subject to the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position may work up to 1500 hours per year/in a 12 consecutive month period

Working Conditions
Typical work activities involve frequent periods of bending, stooping, lifting up to 50lbs., hiking long distances, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, climbing, sitting, and working at high altitudes.
Perform indoor and outdoor work often in inclement weather including very heavy snow.
May have extensive exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
May work in remote locations.
