About the job:

Position serves as the eligibility consultant for public assistance programs and is responsible for correct eligibility determinations for Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), etc.

A day in the life:

  • Reviews and approves or rejects eligibility recommendations made by contract staff for appropriate benefits and waiver programs;

  • Follows all directives given by the State Eligibility Manager/Local Office Manager/Deputy Regional Manager/Regional Manager;

  • Examines Data Matches to discern discrepant and unreported data;

  • Approves claims referred and calculated by the Contractor;

  • Approve or deny auxiliary benefit requests and under issuance requests; authorizes fiats

  • Conducts full eligibility interviews for SNAP, TANF and Medicaid applicants;

  • Insures that all clients are treated in a courteous, professional, and empathetic manner;

  • Keeps current on all changes in rules, regulations and guidelines regarding the individual benefit programs; completion of all trainings are timely;

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:

Five (5) years work experience in counseling; social services; education; public administration; or accredited college training in a related field.

  • Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices and procedures;

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local rules and regulations related to public assistance programs;

  • Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems;

  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions;

  • Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people from varied backgrounds;

  • Ability to use discretion in dealing with all client's and fellow employee's personal information;

  • Demonstrates effective communication and interview skills, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;

  • Ability to be flexible and self-motivated in managing multiple priorities and to use time management techniques in order to complete job assignments in a timely manner;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations;

  • Ability to travel

  • Ability to maintain valid driver's license.

About the Job Highway Technicians are the backbone of INDOT's business and are responsible for performing general highway maintenance duties that keep INDOT assets in good working condition to ensure customer satisfaction. A Day in the Life * Operates basic highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and right-of-ways; * Repairs and installs traffic signs; * Lays down pavement markings; * Traffic control in project areas; * Moves and loads supplies and materials; * Performs road repair and pothole patching * Removes snow and ice from highways and interstates and performs related maintenance duties by operation of snow plow and other winter operations related duties. What We're Looking For * High school graduate or equivalent; * Must possess a valid drivers' license; * Must have valid CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days; NOTE: The Indiana Department of Transportation provides CDL training, pays for eligible employees to take CDL exams, and reimburses employees for eligible expenses for obtaining a CDL including the CDL permit and license following their hire date. * Required to submit to and pass a drug test as a condition of employment; * Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
