Job Description:

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment verification document upon hire. KDHE participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security, with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.

State Dental Director (K0214805) in the Bureau of Oral Health

This role would responsible for maintaining Kansas' public oral health infrastructure through the implementation and maintenance of evidence-based community health interventions. This includes the creation, management and evaluation of federally funded programs including the Kansas School Sealant program.

Assist communities, local health departments, local health care professionals and water operators with issues related to Community Water Fluoridation. Draft, implement and supervise all federal grant applications. Maintain BOH budgets.

Draft and manage all partner contracts. Create and monitor performance measure for BOH initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

Graduation from an approved school of dentistry/dental hygiene with a degree: DDS, DMD, or RDH.

Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

Necessary Special Requirements:

Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry/dental hygiene in the state of Kansas within six months of hire.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS)

  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail

  • Understanding of the current oral health policy in Kansas

  • Knowledge of general public oral health principles

  • Understanding of Medicaid (Title XIX and XXI) as well as Medicaid Managed Care

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with experience
