The Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is seeking an individual to work in public service as the Assistant Director in the Office Insurance Evaluation. The right candidate will assist the Director of the Office of Insurance Evaluation to supervise and direct the operations of the Office. As the assistant director of a highly productive team, your role will encompass overseeing licensing, continuous financial monitoring, and conducting examinations of insurance companies and other risk-bearing entities to ensure financial solvency and compliance with the Michigan Insurance Code. You will play a leadership role in the development and implementation of policies, plans, and procedures necessary for the Office.  You will also actively serve and participate on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) working groups and committees on behalf of DIFS and represent DIFS at industry events.

Work Location: This is an in-person position based in Lansing, Michigan, with the possibility for a hybrid work schedule where you would work from home up to three days per week, following a training period if approved.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Five years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to a specialist or manager at the 13-level or higher.

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted
