This position plans, organizes and directs the work of the Data Analytics and Governance area within Collection Services Bureau (CSB) to strategically promote compliance with and collection of the Michigan taxes administered by the Department of Treasury. The position directs the data analytics efforts for the Bureau; monitors and evaluates the efficiency of controls, identifies hidden risks or non-conformity issues and improves them continuously; formulates and analyzes current and long-range data analytics projects for the Bureau for efficient collection of all overdue assessed taxes and delinquent, non-tax debts owed to State agencies; ensures the timely completion and submission of legislative, ad hoc and customer reports; keeps abreast of legislative changes that may impact data models or taxes impacting CSB; collaborate with CSB's Program Support Unit to develop and deliver training on data/metrics to internal staff, third party collections vendor, etc.; and coordinates with Treasury data owners, Office of Privacy and Security, Bureau of Budget and Information Technology and DTMB to ensure adherence to Treasury's Data Standards.

In addition, the position leads CSB's efforts in Department initiatives such as the Bureau Scorecard, Continuous Improvement, Metrics and represents the Bureau and Department on various committees such as Lean Process Improvement (LPI) and Strategic Planning.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Note:  Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, one year of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).  Go to evaluators for a list of accepted organizations that evaluate foreign credentials.  Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.

This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.
