Summary
The Manager of Standardization will be responsible for ensuring that all Certified Flight Instructors are onboarded and trained to the standard we expect of our CFIs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the McAir Aviation New Customer and Business Development Manager to transition new customers from their first three lessons to permanent CFIs
Assign new customers to their permanent Certified Flight Instructor
CFI scheduling and coordinating with students toward their training progress, with results at no less than minimum appropriate rates for each student
Responsible for the management and scheduling of their assigned students; perform flight and ground instruction as assigned by supervisory personnel
Maintain Part 141 instructor records, and complete required documentation relating to initial CFI training and standardization
Ensuring CFIs maintain a consistent quality of instruction at not less than the level mandated by the school, or by the Federal Aviation Regulations, whichever is to the higher standard
Schedule and conduct mandatory CFI standardization training classes and checkout flights
Provide administrative documentation pertinent to student training within prescribed time limits
Develop and prepare course outlines, study materials, and instructional procedures for standardization of CFIs conducting training for students enrolled in basic, advanced, or instrument ground school
Lecture on various subjects such as aircraft systems, Federal Aviation Regulations, company systems such as Paycom and Flight Schedule Pro, and company policies & procedures
Using synthetic instrument trainers, demonstrate operation of various aircraft components and instruments, and techniques for controlling aircraft during maneuvers such as taxiing, takeoff, and landing
Observe instructor actions during standardization and training flights to ensure assimilation of classroom instruction and to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations
Tests and evaluates students' progress, using written and performance tests and oral interviews
Accomplish weekly scheduling functions and submit a daily report for Student Progress in the timelines prescribed by the Chief Flight Instructor
Prepare students for flight evaluations by providing high quality training and effective feedback
Coordinate the evaluation of Instructor training abilities, determined primarily by the Stage Check pass rates of students and follow up with new hire CFIs post-standardization at 30-, 60-, and 90-day intervals
Assist in collecting various survey results related to student and CFI training, including end-of-course training surveys and operational surveys for both students and CFIs. Compile and report these results to the management team
Help with CFI chats, administrative tasks, student engagement, mandatory trainings, CTA tracking, and all other tasks
Any other duties pertaining to the Standardization and continuing education of CFIs as delegated by the Chief Flight Instructor
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
High School diploma or GED required
Active pursuit of undergraduate degree highly sought
Knowledge and Skills
Travel
Overnight flight or night flights may be required.
Physical Demands
This position requires a person to stand or sit for a prolonged period, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, along with monitor engine operations of functioning, and communicate and coordinate vehicle or aircraft movement. This position also requires a person to maneuver an aircraft for extended periods of time in all various types of weather conditions. The long days can be physically demanding.
