Staff/Senior Staff Mechanical Industrial Automation Engineer

We are actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff/Senior Staff Mechanical Industrial Automation Engineer to join our team and spearhead the design and implementation of cutting-edge automation solutions for our customers. You will be responsible for driving innovation, efficiency, and reliability across our product lines, working in various verticals including wood products, distribution, food manufacturing, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect hardware automation solutions to bring state-of-the-art AI-powered robotics into legacy industries.

  • Work with RIOS leadership to build cost-effective and replicable systems across applications and industries, exploiting your previous knowledge of industrial automation to ensure RIOS isn't reinventing existing capabilities.

  • Design and develop reliable mechanical systems for high-speed automation applications, capable of handling substantial payloads.

  • Mentor and lead Mechanical Engineering team in robust mechanical design

  • Analyze customer processes and identify opportunities for automation, taking into account cost-effectiveness, feasibility, and ROI.

  • Select and integrate appropriate actuators, sensors, and other mechanical components, ensuring compatibility and system functionality.

  • Develop and implement control strategies for complex mechanical systems using industry-standard software and tools.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and production personnel to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall automation framework.

  • Comfortably work across industries, such as lumber, food, and beverage, to adapt RIOS solutions to meet regulatory and environmental requirements.

  • Lead the installation, commissioning, and testing of new automation systems, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and project deadlines.

  • Perform ongoing troubleshooting and maintenance of existing automation systems, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mechanical automation technologies and participate in continuous learning to improve expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience designing and implementing automation systems in real-world factory environments.

  • Proven track record of delivering successful automation projects on time and within budget.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including statics, dynamics, and materials science.

  • Expertise in designing and selecting components for high-speed, high-payload applications.

  • Some knowledge of mechatronics and control systems, including PLC programming and industrial communication protocols.

  • Experience with industrial robotics is a significant plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proficient in using engineering software for modeling, simulation, and documentation.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Detail-oriented and highly motivated, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $215,000.00 per year
