Purpose:

You will be part of Network Management Engineering team which is focused on developing NMS/EMS products targeted for Communication Service Provider (CSP) space. These solutions enable our customers to simplify deploying and operating their access networks. Our solutions help CSPs to accelerate delivering high speed internet and triple play services to end-subscribers. You will work with the team focused on cable MSO use-case, providing cloud hosted (and on-prem) network management software, connecting the DOCSIS backend infrastructure with Calix's Optical Access Platforms for GPON/NGPON access networks. We are working on exciting new architectures based on open source software, modern development tools and agile development practices. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and test vCMTS solutions to interconnect DOCSIS backend with PON based Access network infrastructure

  • Work with development team to design and implement an architecture and which is highly scalable and resilient

  • Work with QA team to review and develop test plans, help with automation of test cases and their execution

  • You will be point of contact for customer escalations into Engineering team. You will help triage the field issues, work with the TAC team with active debug, reproduction of the issue, and issue resolution

  • Work with other cross functional teams of Product Management, Program Managers, to drive upcoming release cycles

  • Design software which works seamlessly on small systems and large distributed network elements

  • Work on 3rd party software stack, solutions and integration work

Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience in the areas of Network Management development, QA and customer support mix

  • Strong background with management protocols like Netconf/Yang/IPFIX/SNMP/DOCSIS is required. Experience with the Confd management framework is a big plus

  • Well-versed with Networking technologies including Optical Access Networks for Telecom and Cable MSO applications

  • Experience with DHCP Servers, TFTP Server and DOCSIS CNR and PNR.

  • Experience in Functional Testing, white/black box and regression testing is desired

  • Experience with Cloud Development tools and technologies such as Containers/Kubernetes is a plus

  • Experience with Java, Python scripting, Linux, JSON is desired

  • Development and optimization experience with Postgres, MongoDB or similar database technology is highly desired

  • Hands-on experience with software performance characterization and optimization techniques

  • Work experience in Agile/Scrum development methodology

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • MS/BS in CS/EE or equivalent
