GENERAL OVERVIEW
This position provides central staffing support across the entire Nursing Department (7 days a week x 24 hours a day), utilizing the One Staff system proficiently and independently. The staffing coordinator reports to the Executive Director, Business Services and the Nurse Director, Central Staffing and provides support to the Nurse Administrator(s) on the off-shift.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews staffing on a daily basis, (shift by shift) receives information about special unit needs and unplanned absences. Under the direction of the Float Pool Director, the Nurse Administrators and/or the Associate Chief Nurses, assigns scheduled floats, per diems, and/or agency to cover deficits.
Use pre-planned schedules and information from Nursing Directors about unit status, plans and arranges for additional help for the week as necessary.
Prepares 4 week time schedules in keeping with approved staffing requirements and in conformity with Hospital policy and MNA contract.
Updates One Staff system on a daily basis with actual staffing for Float Pool staff and other staff as required.
Prepares assigned weekly payroll: researches payroll errors and questions for employees.
Performs data collection and supplies information in format appropriate for use.
Completes special projects as assigned.
Communicates with staff, managers, and directors in a clear, complete and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong customer service skills.
Associates degree or equivalent.
Computer literate.
Experience working in a fast paced environment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Flexible.
Effective communication skills, via phone and in-person.
Organized.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally in an office where there are no physical discomforts due to temperature and noise.
Work involves multiple and often simultaneous demands/requests via phone and in person.
