The Staff Training Specialist is responsible for delivering employee training classes for the organization. This position participates in the analysis, design, development and facilitation of training classes and integrates best practices to implement an efficient training program which will increase the performance of employees and departments served. This position also delivers specialized trainings.

This position will be located in our Springfield office but will be required to travel to other area offices (Bolivar and Joplin) occasionally, dependent on staff training needs. Due to travel requirements, this position requires a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:

  • Delivers and facilitates training presentations and programs to enhance the skills of employees in the organization. Provides input on training program and ways to improve training classes and presentations.

  • Evaluates, develops and obtains training manuals and materials such as outlines, text and handouts.

  • Ensues that the training environment promotes learning and manages training activities in an effective manner.

  • Processes and submits appropriate training information for participants so that electronic rosters and certifications are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Facilitates individualized or group specific trainings to direct support employees and acts as a resource for support-related questions regarding challenging situations.

  • Performs administrative tasks including assisting with special projects and audit activities.

Position Competencies:

  • Knowledge of disabilities in order to provide trainings and serve as a resource to direct support employees.

  • Knowledge of adult learning, instructional design and curriculum development.

  • Works independently in training situations and is able to make decisions regarding classroom performance, interactions and behaviors.

  • Communicates clearly to class participants and possesses effective training, presentation and group facilitation skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint as well as knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Excel. Utilizes Learning Management System (LMS) software for training-related activities.

Qualifications:

  • Must have bachelor's degree in related field and 1 year experience working with individuals with disabilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous experience in adult learning, instructional design and curriculum development techniques preferred.

  • Must obtain CPR/First Aid and Mandt Instructor Certifications as well as any other required certifications.
