Staff Tax Accountant

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS-

• Assist with the preparation of Federal tax returns, state income tax returns and state income tax apportionment

• Provide support on Puerto Rico financial report audit, quarterly estimated tax payments for both income tax and property tax

• Assist with gathering documents and supports on state and local tax audits including but not limited to income tax, sales and use tax and property tax.

• Provide month-end support including journal entry preparation

• Prepare and file state annual reports and business tax returns.

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

• Good organizational skills needed to manage strict filings deadlines and be able to multi-task

• Basic tax compliance experience and/or strong accounting background

• Proficient knowledge of MS applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail

• AbiIity to communicate professionally at all levels within and outside of the organization

• Critical thinking skills in order to analyze information and data

• Must be hard-working, a self-starter, performance-oriented and able to meet the demands of a diverse business environment in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in tax, including Big 4 experience

• BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent, CPA preferred but not required

• Experience with sales and use tax

• Experience with state income tax apportionment factor

• Experience with tax research software
