Work within the R&D team to define and design innovative products for the LC and LC-MS markets.
Design, build, and test breadboard and prototype systems and subsystems to address identified needs and requirements.
Collaborate with marketing and application associates to identify new features and requirements for products.
Translate customer, marketing, and business needs into User Needs and System Requirements.
Convert prototype demonstrations into system design architectures (DFR, DFM, DFS).
Lead the development and execution of architecture and design controls for new products.
Identify risks and make recommendations for risk response strategies, including FMEA and reliability.
Lead the planning and execution of integration level activities from breadboard, through prototype and pilot.
Provide guidance and support for systems engineering approaches and activities within the organization.
Bachelor degree or higher in an appropriate discipline (Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) with a minimum of 9 or more years of relevant industry experience with typically 15 years of practical experience OR Master's degree in field with 7 or more years of relevant industry experience.
Knowledge of life science and analytical instrumentation systems required, preference will be given to candidates who possess experience in liquid chromatography or mass spectrometry.
Experience in architecting instruments in an R&D environment and moving designs from R&D to manufacturing.
Experience with product development life cycles and manufacturing principles.
Strong understanding of and experience implementing control systems (PID, thermal design, signal processing).
Demonstrated history of driving projects to completion in schedule driven environments.
Demonstrated history of creativity, innovation, and troubleshooting.
Understanding of associated disciplines in the product development process; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Firmware and Software Engineering, Analytical Chemistry.
Ability to critically analyze and evaluate data.
Methodical troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to documentation.
