Responsible for leading and executing the Supplier Quality program, and supporting cross-functional departments to acquire highest quality materials from suppliers that meet the requirements while improving the cost of quality of parts, processes and products. Manage and develop company's suppliers, and their respective processes/systems to prevent defects.

This position may sit in Irvine, CA or Santa Rosa, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining supplier quality management program.

  • Perform thorough audits and assessments of Supplier processes and QMS and drive improvement.

  • Day to day activities include; supplier auditing, SCAR management, Supplier NCMR investigations, Supplier file maintenance, Supplier metrics, ASL and ACL.

  • Core team member on supplier related projects starting in new product development.

  • Continually assess the Supplier Management and related procedures for continual improvement.

  • Support in house manufacturing and customer complaint issues related to supplier parts.

  • Develop receiving inspection requirements as needed.

  • Support Operations team with issues at the supplier impacting quality and shipping performance.

  • Uses Quality Engineering tools (i.e. FMEA) to solve complex problems.

  • Participate in the supplier and component qualification, approval and selection process.

  • Supplier SME during quality internal and external audits.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific/engineering discipline

Experience:

  • years of related work experience, including:
  • 6-8 years of supplier quality engineering in medical device industry required.
  • ASQ CQE or CQA and six sigma black belt preferred.

This person will be responsible for supplier quality audits, vendor management, and maintaining supplier quality metrics. Responsibilities: * Audit, monitor, evaluate, report and improve supplier Quality system performance and provide technical support to suppliers * Perform supplier evaluations including on-site audits to assess supplier capabilities, determine approval status, and verify corrective action * Collect and add supplier information required for the Approved Supplier List * Conduct component and product Quality testing for purposes of supplier and component qualification and improvements * Identify and implement statistical engineering tools and techniques to evaluate supplier process capability and technical performance * Evaluate supplier Quality systems, strategies and regulatory compliance via vendor audits * Collect and analyze Quality metrics relating to Supplier Quality * Identify and define correction actions and follow-up to ensure completeness and effectiveness * Communicate supplier Quality risks to upper management while suggesting improvements and cost savings where possible * Identify and ensure the optimization of complex processes using engineering methods (e.g., SIX Sigma and LEAN methods) for continuous process improvement. #LI-TR1 #AS Education / Qualifications: * Bachelor's Science degree in Engineering or Science related fields required with 4 years of applicable experience; OR Master's Degree in Engineering or Science related fields with 3 years of applicable experience * Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or Biotech industry experience preferred * Experience with supplier/vendor management or exposure interacting with suppliers/vendors preferred * Experience with Auditing, CAPAs, NCRs, Change Notifications, and/or Auditing preferred * Test Method Validations experience or experience with Measurement System Analysis tools is a strong plus * Effective problem solving techniques (i.e. Gage R&R, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA process, Validation activities, etc.) * Knowledge of regulations (i.e. ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9000) * Experience with class II and class III medical devices a plus * Demonstrated ability to apply statistical Quality engineering tools in a supplier environment * Working knowledge of International and Domestic FDA regulations * Effective communication and conflict resolution skills * Strong understanding of Manufacturing processes (i.e. Injection Molding, Extrusion, and Machining) * Thorough understanding of Risk Management principles * Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively manage and get results with external suppliers * Six Sigma Black Belt/LEAN Manufacturing experience preferred * ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or ASQ/BSI Certified Quality Auditor preferred Edwards Lifesciences Corp Irvine CA
