What you'll be doing

The Tableau Prep team's mission is to help people prepare and curate data for analysis in Tableau. We are looking to solve our customers' complex data preparation problems on ever-increasing data sets in the cloud, data lake, databases and data warehouses. Getting data ready for analysis can be time-consuming. Tableau Prep makes it possible for more people, from IT to business users, to easily prep their data with a direct and visual approach. We are looking for a strong Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) who is passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art in the Data Preparation space and in helping deliver on our company's mission to help people see and understand their data.

Some of the major responsibilities include

  • Providing technical leadership and contributing to the vision and architecture of the organization.

  • Tackling a wide variety of technical challenges in building efficient and scalable systems for large scale data preparation and analyses.

  • Coaching and mentoring senior engineers.

  • Building the frontend and backend for Tableau Prep features on the desktop, on premises and in the cloud.

  • Experienced. You have 10+ years of industry software development experience in building and deploying highly performant and scalable systems to production.

  • Highly technical. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. You have solid experience in developing large-scale web applications with one or more web frameworks such as React and AngularJS, with web frontend languages such as JavaScript and TypeScript and you have solid development experience in Java, C# or C++.

  • Relentlessly High Standards. You believe in writing high quality code that is robust, scalable, and performant. All while keeping it simple and maintainable.

  • Self-motivated. You take initiative and drive your projects to success.

  • Thrive in ambiguity. You can define and drive solutions despite the ambiguity in the area of data preparation.

Description In this role you will be working on one or more web applications that enable other teams within Apple to make use of their data. You will be exposed to a large domain where you will be taking part in synthesizing complex workflows to produce experiences that help users visualize, understand and manage various aspects of their datasets. To accomplish this, you will be expected to efficiently collaborate and communicate with large and diverse teams and take part in the ownership of the user experience design, implementation and maintenance. This will involve producing and challenging wireframes and user-flows, implementing them with test-covered code, and slowly evolving codebases alongside community advancements. The position is full-time and onsite in either San Francisco or Santa Clara Valley. Education & Experience BA / BS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
