Staff Backend Software Engineer (Security)

Databricks is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Security team. You will be responsible for developing reliable and scalable systems to support our company, including working on systems for asset identification, vulnerability detection; orchestration systems for third party security products; threat detection and alerting systems; and other security related needs. The ideal candidate will be required to demonstrate strong software development skills, with knowledge of software security an important desired skill.

This is a unique opportunity in that Databricks will be building security as a service with a strong focus on product and automation. The role will be helping build the foundations and team towards this goal.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement security related systems and processes

  • Work closely with our Security teams to address automation needs

  • Develop, follow and support best software engineering practices

  • Test-driven development, design and code reviews

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • 10+ years experience developing enterprise level production products

  • Languages: Python, Go, Java (knowledge of Javascript a plus)

  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code and provisioning tools

  • Excellent grasp of software engineering principles

  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills

Desired Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge in cloud security architecture

  • Experience in research and development in the security field
