Staff Software Engineer, Google Cloud Storage

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.

• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

• 5 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.

• Experience in AI/ML and Distributed Storage.

In this role, you will build the infrastructure to power Storage Management charters. You will work with Product Managers to identify the customer requirements, and with Team Leads to design and build the core architecture and foundations of the product.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally and collaborate with other service teams in Storage to solve problems and drive cross-functional execution.

• Ensure existing and new infrastructure is compliant with Google principles with security, performance, reliability, fault-tolerance.

• Lead on-call responsibilities in the team, to ensure existing production systems meet Service Level Objectives (SLO).

• Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers, establish software development practices, and help build an engineering culture.

• Partner with team leadership to define the roadmap, in consultation with Product Managers and other cross-functional stakeholders in the organization.
